Belief Statement
Declaration of Faith (from Chapter A2, Item 1 of the Christian and Protestant Church Handbook)
I believe in one true God, the infinite and perfect Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who lives eternally.
I believe that Jesus Christ was divine and human, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He was the righteous who died on the cross for the unrighteous, becoming a sacrificial offering, so that all who believe in him may be justified by his blood. He rose from the dead as recorded in the Scriptures and now sits at the right hand of the Most High and Almighty as our High Priest, and will come again to establish a kingdom of righteousness and peace.
I believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to dwell in the hearts of believers, guiding, teaching, and strengthening them; and causing the world to convict itself of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
I believe that the original texts of the Old and New Testaments are without error, inspired by God word for word, a complete revelation of God's purpose for the redemption of mankind, and the sole standard of faith and conduct ordained by God.
I believe that man was created in God's image, but fell due to disobedience, resulting in the death of his soul and body. Every person possesses an inherent sinful nature, separated from God's life; the only salvation is through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who do not repent and do not believe will end up in eternal suffering, while those who believe will receive eternal bliss.
I believe that Jesus Christ has prepared salvation for humanity, so that all who repent and believe may be born again of the Holy Spirit, receive eternal life, and become children of God.
I believe that God's will is for all who believe in Him to be filled with the Holy Spirit, completely sanctified, separated from the world and sin, and to offer themselves to obey God's will; thus receiving power to live a holy life and perform effective service. This is the spiritual transformation and growth experience of believers after repentance.
I believe that the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ includes physical healing. anointing the sick with oil and praying are biblical teachings and the rights of the church in this age.
I believe the church is composed of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed by His precious blood, and are born again by the Holy Spirit. The church has Christ as its head and receives from Him the ministry of bearing witness to the world and preaching the gospel to all nations. Local churches are communities of Christians in their respective areas who unite to worship, be edified through the word of the Lord, pray together, fellowship with one another, proclaim the gospel, and administer the sacraments, namely baptism and communion.
I believe that both the righteous and the unrighteous will be resurrected in body; the former will be resurrected to life, and the latter to condemnation.
I believe that the Lord will return at any time—a concrete and visible fact—before the millennium. This is the blessed hope of believers and an important truth, thus inspiring believers to live holy lives and serve faithfully.
